Witham has had a great February keeping its young people entertained and learning.
The project has done a lot to bring together volunteers, trustees, staff and professionals in the community to bring some much needed activities and opportunities to a part of Witham that would really benefit from some interactive fun!
Witham BB has begun delivering school holiday programmes on the Templar’s Estate in Witham. The first session was held during the recent Half-term Holiday and offered up 3D printing, model rockets and music. The next sessions will be offered during the Easter Holidays and will also include bouncy castle, sports and other activities.
All sessions are focused on and available to residents of the estate; others from around Witham are welcome to attend. We are hopeful that residents will take up the opportunity to send their young people along to share in community with each other and our volunteers!
We were able to deliver an “Escape Room” activity in our Boys’ Brigade’s home church building for 6 of our 15-18 year olds. It took a fair amount of work, but was able to deliver on the Boys’ requests to try out an escape room for themselves! The Boys were given a series of challenges that required critical thinking, maths, memory, teamwork, collaboration, communication and a bit of lucky timing to complete the “Bank Heist” themed activity.
The Boys’ will now be challenged to facilitate the activity for their 11-15 year old peers. A few of the adult volunteers were able to observe the activity and now a number of other staff would like to have a go at the activity as well. It is nice to see young people and adults enjoying some of the same stuff!
