For some this Covid19 season has been a time to breathe and take stock; for us at SYC we’ve been as active as usual, we just had to change tactics! (You can find out more about what that has looked like on our Covid Response pages in the menu above).
Now as lockdown begins to ease our face to face youth work is ramping up again and the SYC team in Reading are looking for a number of folk to join the team. We are looking for people to join our youth program teams, we are also looking for one or two interns to be part of our life full time, and we are looking for a Business Professional to join us part time to help us become more sustainable.
This Covid season has helped to emphasise the importance of community and authentic connection, it has served to highlight the vulnerabilities that sections of our communities live with, and it has shown us that we are indeed better together.
We are looking for people to join our team who want to see the young people of South Reading (in particular) flourish and the community come together in greater strength and inclusivity.
Join our Youth Program Teams…
If you are an experienced youth worker interested in joining some new and exciting youth programmes we would love to hear from you! Youth work is what we do best, so you would be working with a passionate and experienced team.
If you are interested or would like more information, contact email@example.com
Join us as a full-time intern…
By joining our team as a full-time intern you will be getting lots of hands-on experience, no two days will be the same! Our current intern, Reneta reflects on what it means to be an intern for Shift, Youth + Community:
“To be an intern at SYC means saying yes to not only reaching out to young people and the community but also to yourself. It has taken me on a journey of personal, professional, and spiritual development by giving me the freedom to be creative, participate in both the big and small tasks, celebrate, make mistakes and learn, and discover a more authentic version of myself. The internship doesn’t begin on Monday and end on Friday (the work does, of course), but it is more a way of life than a role. It’s a fascinating blend that keeps you grounded but also lets you be free!”
If you are interested in becoming a full-time intern or would like more information on what being an intern involves, get in touch at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Help us to become more sustainable…
It’s not only going to take youth and community workers to facilitate the transformation we want to see, we need a range of other skills on the team! We need someone to help us develop and actualise our long-term funding model, so if you are comfortable moving in the world of business and finance at a high level, if you’re something of an entrepeneur and have experience as a networker and fundraiser we would love to hear from you.
